A section of westbound Interstate 80 in San Francisco near the Bay Bridge will be closed this weekend for a construction project.
The full westbound I-80 closure from Fifth Street to 15th Street is scheduled to start at 11 p.m. Friday and continue until 6 a.m. Monday, according to Caltrans.
Motorists should avoid using the Bay Bridge to get into San Francisco during the closure, Caltrans said. Alternate options include taking public transportation or using the San Mateo, Dumbarton or Richmond-San Rafael bridges.
“This work is necessary for crews to place polyester concrete on the WB I-80 Bayshore freeway deck and will complete a broader I-80 Bayshore Freeway viaduct polyester concrete placement project which began on the eastbound I-80 Bayshore Freeway earlier this year,” Caltrans said in a statement.
