STATEWIDE– McDonald’s will bring back the McRib sandwich to Indiana restaurants starting Oct. 26 for a limited time, the company announced Tuesday.
The McRib features a seasoned boneless pork patty topped with barbecue sauce, slivered onions and dill pickles on a homestyle bun. The sandwich first launched in 1981 as a limited-time offering in the Kansas City area and has since become one of the chain’s most requested menu items.
Fans Flock to Restaurants During Each Return
The sandwich’s periodic availability has created consistent demand on social media. Previous returns have drawn long lines at restaurants as customers rush to order before the item disappears from menus again.
McDonald’s rotates the McRib on and off the menu rather than offering it year-round, a strategy that has kept customer interest high for more than four decades.
Strong Indiana Supplier Ties
Indiana plays a significant role in the McRib supply chain. McDonald’s restaurants in the state source an estimated 5.9 million pounds of pork from Indiana suppliers each year, according to the company.
The partnership highlights the company’s connections to local agriculture and food production networks.
Digital Ordering Available
Customers can order the McRib through the McDonald’s mobile app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The app features Mobile Order & Pay, which allows customers to skip the counter line.
The app also provides access to exclusive deals and the MyMcDonald’s Rewards program, where customers earn points on purchases that can be redeemed for free food.
The McRib will be available at participating Indiana McDonald’s locations for a limited time starting Oct. 26.
