An 18-year-old Mankato man who is awaiting trial in connection with a fatal shooting is now facing additional gun charges.

Mankato Public Safety says officers responded to a report of Ryan Wolner physically assaulting a woman inside a residence on October 19th.

Officers learned Wolner had reportedly possessed a handgun earlier that day. A search warrant led to the discovery of two handguns without serial numbers, commonly known as ghost guns, inside a backpack.

Police say one firearm was equipped with a switch that can convert a semiautomatic handgun into a fully automatic weapon.

Wolner was arrested and is being held in the Blue Earth County Jail. He faces charges of possessing a machine gun and possessing a firearm as an ineligible person.

Wolner was out on bond in connection with the May 23rd killing of 17-year-old Tyson Goodsell in North Mankato.

The investigation remains ongoing.
