Charges were pending for a man with a gun who holed himself up inside a Far South Side home for five hours and fired a shot Wednesday night.
Officers conducted a well-being check around 8:05 p.m. in the 13300 block of South Michigan Avenue after receiving a 911 call that a "known" man had barricaded himself in a home with the caller's firearm, Chicago police said.
While inside, the man discharged the firearm, though no one was struck, police said.
Shortly after 1 a.m., he was taken into custody without incident and also taken to a hospital to be evaluated, police said.
Charges were pending.
